PROJECT OVEREVIEW

BeCovered was a multi-state grass roots campaign by Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) that targeted low-income communities in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. The goal of the site was a no-sales approach to educate these communities on the new availability of enrollment, services, and the rights bestowed by the Affordable Care Act. The Multilingual website took advantage of WordPress’ multisite feature; one install to control a separate website for each state.

Website was built with WordPress CMS Multisite in both English and Spanish

The content was offered in both English and Spanish and the translations were handled by BCBS’ internal translation team. It hosted downloadable materials with information on how to take advantage of their health care, how to purchase health insurance in each state’s marketplace, and tips on how to stay healthy. The site also included a robust FAQ page and a video series hosted by a prevalent doctor in the field.

The website was a companion piece to live hosted “Care Fair” events that toured in each state. These events would offer free health and dental examinations by professional health care workers and hosted booths by local community organizations providing information on health care assistance programs.
